Granbury TX Real Estate: What Owners Should Know About the Nov. 3 City Election
The City of Granbury holds its general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the city's election page as of Oct. 13, 2026. Early voting runs Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 30, so anyone who owns or is buying Granbury TX real estate has a window that opens next week.
I'm not here to tell anyone how to vote. I'm writing this because the dates are short and the early voting window opens next week.
When is the Granbury city election and early voting?
The City of Granbury general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, and early voting is Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, 2026. Here are the dates the city lists:
- Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Early voting: Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 30, 2026
- Last day to register to vote: Oct. 5, 2026 (already passed)
- Last day to apply for a mail ballot: Oct. 23, 2026
- Mail ballot deadline: Ballots must arrive by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 if the carrier envelope is not postmarked. A ballot postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day must arrive by 5 p.m. on Nov. 4. The city notes these deadlines exclude overseas and military voters.
The city's page doesn't list daily early voting hours and says to check the Hood County Elections page for them. Call the Hood County Elections office in Granbury if you want to confirm where and when you can vote.
What is on the Granbury ballot?
The ballot includes Mayor (Place 1) and City Council Places 2 through 6. The city says the mayor and five councilpersons make up the City Council, and they are elected at large to three-year terms. The city's election page names no candidates and mentions no propositions, so I can't tell you more than that. For candidate information, go to the city and county election offices.
Why does a city election matter if you own property?
The Granbury City Council votes on the city's property tax rate, and that rate shows up on your tax bill. According to the City of Granbury's tax information page, the council adopted a rate of $0.420000 per $100 of valuation on Sept. 2, 2025, for fiscal year 2025-2026. The preceding year's rate was $0.385000 per $100.
I could not confirm the rate for the 2026-2027 budget. The city's budget page shows a public hearing on Aug. 18, 2026 and a council vote to adopt on Sept. 1, 2026, but it does not list a rate. If you want the current number, the city's Tax Information page is the place to look.
What this means for buyers, sellers, and lakefront owners
If you own a home in the city limits: The city is one of several taxing units on your bill. Find your most recent bill, see what the city portion was, and check the city's tax page for the current rate.
If you are buying: Ask for the tax information for the specific address, and ask whether it is inside the city limits and which taxing units apply to it. Check with your lender and the Hood CAD for your own situation.
If you are selling: Buyers often ask about taxes. Having the latest bill handy saves time.
My take: what I'd do right now
- Mark the dates. Early voting opens Monday, Oct. 19, and the mail ballot application deadline is Oct. 23.
- Read the city's election page at granbury.org so you are working from the city's own dates.
- Look up your property's tax bill and see which taxing units are on it.
- Treat everything here as general information. Check with your CPA or tax professional about your own tax questions.
